2009.03.14-shore-walkHave you tried mapping your walk with free online programs? This article references two commonly available programs, Google Maps and MapMyWalk (which enhances the features of Google Maps).

Google Maps has already cross-referenced and integrated street, satellite, and terrain maps. You may already have used Google Maps for driving directions, but Google Maps also come in handy for plotting walks to come or recently taken.

Go to the link: http://maps.google.com where you will find an option at the upper left to make a map. If you already have a free account and you have made maps before, then you will find the option at upper left to review your history of map making.

MapMyWalk offers a promising tool integrated with Google Maps. See notes below, or go to MapMyWalk  website.

This mapping tool takes about an hour to learn for precise results. Clicking on the buttons takes you to the MapMyWalk website where you can make your own maps, toggle between street and satellite views, and share results with people or groups.   The MapMyFitness family of sites offers free training diaries, calculators, and social networking.
