Larry with Guided Tour signAn Announcement by Larry Luxenberg, Founder and President of the A.T. Museum

The A.T. Museum has reached an agreement with parks officials in Pennsylvania to lease the Old Mill Building in Pine Grove Furnace State Park as the home of the museum. The 200 year old grist mill is within 2 miles of the midpoint of the A.T. and adjacent to the trail and the Half Gallon Club. It would be the first museum devoted to hiking in the U.S. The agreement is conditioned on the museum society bringing the building up to code within one year.

Participating at the meeting for the museum were Maurice Forrester Jr., Jim Stauch of PATC North and Ray Burt of Ironmasters Hostel and myself. All three are well known and respected by state parks officials in Pennsylvania. Jim was named regional volunteer of the year by the parks department. The Old Mill was first identified for the museum by John Shaffer.
